Breaking ground for St. Joseph’s

Members and friends of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church formed shovel lines on the outline of the new St. Joseph Catholic Church building in Le Mars Sunday afternoon.

Construction began ceremonially with a groundbreaking service. Wiltgen Construction begins building Monday (April 4, 2011).

Bishop R. Walker Nickless of the Diocese of Sioux City walked the new church building outline as he gave the blessing with holy water.

Rev. Kevin Richter and Bishop Nicholas prepared to join the groundbreaking by a cross that is the approximate location of the new church’s altar.

Music from Gehlen Catholic High School students opened the service.

A progress video is the building project will be captured by a camera placed in the existing church steeple and updated on the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church website.
