DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) – Three people have been hurt in a
collision involving a pair of ATVs in northern Scott County.
The Scott County sheriff’s office says the victims were thrown
when the vehicles collided about 9:30 p.m. Friday on a gravel road.
The sheriff’s office says Claire Schneckloth was flown to the
University of Iowa Hospital with serious injuries. A hospital
spokesman said Saturday that he had no information on her
condition.
Two other victims, whom authorities identified as Brandan
Mayerhofer and Jerame Stevens, were taken to Genesis East hospital
in Davenport with minor injuries. A message left Saturday for a
hospital spokeswoman wasn’t immediately returned.
Man dies after falling 40 feet from parking garage

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (AP) – Council Bluffs police say a
23-year-old man has died after he apparently jumped 40 feet from
the top floor of a parking garage.
Police and fire and rescue squads responded to the Omni Center
early Friday morning after a man was found unconscious near the
parking garage.
The Daily Nonpareil reported (https://bit.ly/qNbokH ) the man,
Bronson Babcock, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say they believe he jumped from the top of the parking
garage. They say a vehicle registered to him was found on the top
floor and his billfold was found near the ledge.
An autopsy has been scheduled at the state medical examiner’s
office.
Police ID motorcyclist killed in Iowa chase crash
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) – Authorities released the name of
motorcyclist who’s believed to have died in a crash while fleeing
police in Des Moines.
Police identified him as 24-year-old Adam Jarnagin of Waukee.
Police say an officer spotted Jarnagin’s motorcyclist in his
rear-view mirror about 2 a.m. Saturday and attempted to stop him as
he passed the cruiser. Jarnagin sped off and the officer gave chase
for about 10 blocks before losing sight of the vehicle.
Police say the officer soon came across the crashed motorcycle.
Jarnagin died at the scene.
Iowa teacher’s aide accused of sending sexy photos
EAGLE GROVE, Iowa (AP) – A teacher’s assistant at Eagle Grove
High School has been accused of sending obscene photos to a
student.
The Wright County sheriff’s office says 25-year-old Bailey
Tokheim, of Eagle Grove, was arrested Friday on suspicion of
telephone dissemination of obscene material to a minor. She was
released on her own recognizance and is due in court Wednesday.
Authorities say parents of a student contacted police after
seeing the inappropriate photos on the teen’s computer. The photos
were allegedly sent over a seven-month period.
WHO-TV reports Tokheim’s husband is an Eagle Grove police
officer. He says the couple doesn’t want to talk about the case.
Perry blasts Obama, notes own job-creating record
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) – Texas Gov. Rick Perry blasted President
Obama’s handling of the economy and says his own record of creating
jobs qualifies him for the White House.
Perry told nearly 400 activists that he’s created 1 million jobs
while governor of Texas, all during a stretch where the nation was
losing 2.5 million jobs. Perry says he’ll take a record of cutting
taxes and regulation to Washington and says the Texas rebound
proves that it works.
Perry was joined at a county GOP picnic by two fellow
presidential candidates, Congressmen Ron Paul and Thaddeus
McCotter. But it was Perry receiving the bulk of the attention.
Perry pointed to claims that record levels of food stamps are
helping the economy grow, and says that’s a sign of failure.
Iowa man faces charges in drug investigation
WAPELLO, Iowa (AP) – A Wapello man faces several charges in a
drug investigation in southeast Iowa.
The Louisa County sheriff’s office says 37-year-old Jorge
Saavedra is being held Saturday in its jail on $76,000 bond. He’s
suspected of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver,
eluding and false imprisonment, among other charges.
The sheriff’s office says an officer tried to stop Saavedra
Friday after a controlled drug delivery but he sped away and
refused to allow his passenger to get out of the vehicle. The
pursuit ended near the Muscatine airport.
The sheriff’s office says more than 150 pounds of marijuana was
seized during the investigation.
Iowa man charged in fatal crash sued by survivor

NEVADA, Iowa (AP) – A man hurt in a fatal crash has filed a
lawsuit against the driver of a vehicle charged in the Story County
incident.
The Ames Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/oAE510 ) that Richard
Dilz, of Madrid, sued Jeffrey Clendenen on Thursday, citing
negligence.
Clendenen was charged this past week with vehicular homicide and
serious injury by vehicle in the Feb. 17 crash near Kelly. He
posted bond on Friday and was released from the Story County jail.
The sheriff’s office has said the 42-year-old Clendenen, of
Ames, was drunk when he drove through a stop sign and collided with
Dilz’s car. Clendenen’s passenger, 39-year-old Amy Rogers, of Ames,
was killed.
Lack of housing leaves cramped quarters at U of I

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) – Roughly 120 students at the University of
Iowa are living in temporary housing while school officials work to
identify open beds.
Though the university is in the process of building a new
dormitory on the west side of campus with space for about 400
residents, it won’t be ready until 2015.

that’s left officials seeking alternative housing.
The university has rented an entire building with 69 apartments
from a complex in west Iowa City to house 170 upperclassmen and
transfer students.
