(Le Mars)–Cones, cones and more cones. These fiber glass works of art are beginning to be seen everywhere in Le Mars, incorporating subject matters that feature the fabric of the community. Just as an example, the most recently added cone at Bob’s Drive Inn includes pictures of the Plymouth County Courthouse, the Le Mars Golf Course, RoundBarn, Postal Playhouse and MUCH more.
Mary Reynolds of the Le Mars Chamber of Commerce said Wednesday that over the next week six more cones will be added to the city, brining the total to 27. Look for the new works of public art at Baymont Inn and Suites, Williams and Company and Bo Deans. There are also two cones being put up that were painted by different well known water colorists from Le Mars…one at First National Bank and the other at Quality Truck Wash. The banks is painted by Glenda Drennan and the truck washes by Jean Weiner. Over the winter a few more cones may pop up here and there, but you’ll have to wait till next spring and summer to see them all. Over 50 cones are expected to complete the project valued at over $50,000, funded entirely by area businesses and private individuals.
