LCT to Stage “Barefoot in the Park”

(Le Mars)– What happens when a free spirit marries a straight-laced lawyer?  You’ll find out in the Le Mars Community Theater’s upcoming performance of Neil Simon’s “Barefoot in the Park.”  Lisa Opheim, who has appeared in two shows at Le Mars Community and has worked for a number of years with the Spencer Community Theater, is directing her first show at the Postal Playhouse. She tells us what the show is about.

Mix in a conservative mother-of-the-bride and a wacky next door neighbor, who end up on a double date with the newlyweds, and you’ve got funny conflict and few awkward situations.  Lisa says the cast she’s put together is clicking with some good chemistry after two weeks of rehearsal.

You may also find some Le Mars stage veterans making a brief cameo appearance as a delivery person early in the show.

The upcoming show will be staged the last weekend of October and the first weekend in November at the newly remodeled Postal Playhouse in Le Mars.  According to Opheim the quality of the writing, the familiarity of the show, and the fun 1960’s setting make this a great play that the whole family will have fun with.
