SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) – A man has died of injuries suffered in a collision between an ATV and a car at a Sioux City intersection.
Police say 30-year-old Jonathan Flanders, of Sioux City, suffered head injuries in Saturday afternoon’s crash and died Sunday at a hospital. Flanders was on the ATV. The driver of the car was identified as 51-year-old Tammy Sewalson, who was not hurt. Police say the car had the right of way.
(Sioux City) — A construction worker died Saturday morning while working at a construction site at Briar Cliff College. The victim hasn’t been identified as of yet, pending family notification. The victim was an employee of the construction company and was crushed by falling masonry. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. The victim was a resident of North Sioux City, South Dakota.
(Sioux City)– Woodbury County sheriff’s office has arrested 42 year old Mark Jacobson of Hinton and charged him with Burglary in the 2nd degree in regards to a residential break-in that occurred on Friday morning. Jacobson was arrested after being recognized by a person who had seen his picture in a press release. Jacobson is in the Woodbury County Jail awaiting a court appearance. Last week 39 year-old JoDee Lyn Jacobson of Hinton was arrested by Woodbury County authorities on the same burglary charge.
(LeMars) — Last week we told you of Floyd Valley Hospital’s intention to start a new marketing and advertising campaign later this fall. Mike Donlan, hospital administrator, offers a better perspective of the new marketing campaign. Donlan says the health care industry is very competitive, and Floyd Valley wanted to see how the hospital is perceived among the community. He says the hospital wanted an objective determination of its strengths and weakenesses as it proceeded with its long-term strategic plan. Sistney-Carr of Lincoln, Nebraska conducted a survey of 325 people living within the Floyd Valley marketing area. In the survey, the agency found Floyd Valley has a good reputation with the surrounding area. Among the mentioned strengths include : good staff in general, good physicians, good nurses, cleaniness, reasonable cost, and excellent care.

The survey also noted how strong of likelihood is the community willing to support the hospital. Of those surveyed, 83 percent indicated an interest in supporting the community hospital.

Donlan says the hospital has been fortunate that it hasn’t had a need to build an entirely new building such as Orange City, but its present facilities have served the health care needs of the community.
