(LeMars) — Imagine having to cook a Thanksgiving meal, complete with mashed potatoes, stuffing, and all the trimmings,including pumpkin pie for more than 600 people. That’s just what will happen today as the Rejoice Community Church hosts the Community Thanksgiving meal. This marks the seventh year for the event. Organizer Donna Britcher says it takes at least 100 volunteers to cook meals for 600 people.
The event will feature 27 turkeys that will consist of about 400 pounds of turkey meat, plus more than 120 pounds of mashed potatoes, and 100 pies. The meal is free of charge and open to everyone. Britcher says they will welcome additional volunteers and if you have an interest in volunteering, you are asked to contact the Rejoice Community Church. Seating will begin at 10:30 a.m.
