(LeMars) — Texas Congressman and Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul is going to make another campaign swing through northwest Iowa, including a political rally stop in LeMars. Paul, the 76 year old candidate, is scheduled to appear at the LeMars Convention Center on Friday, December 30th at 1:00 p.m. Other northwest Iowa stops will include Sioux City and Sioux Center. Recent polls have placed Paul in the third position for the upcoming Iowa Caucus, behind the two front runners Former Speaker Newt Ginrich and Massachuettes governor, Mitt Romney.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) – Funeral services will be held in Sioux City for an American man who died in an accidental fall while climbing in a remote mountainous area in Lebanon.
The body of 33-year-old John Redwine was found Dec. 20 in the central region of Sannine, three days after he went missing.
Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City says Redwine’s funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Grace United Methodist Church.
Redwine was from Sioux City. His family says he had been living in Beirut and working in public relations and communications.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) – A Kansas City, Kansas man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison in connection with a shooting in downtown Sioux City earlier this year. The U.S. attorney’s office
says 29-year-old Michael Johnson was sentenced earlier this month in U.S. District Court in Sioux City. He pleaded guilty in July to being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. He was
sentenced on December 15th.
OTTUMWA, Iowa (AP) – Police in Ottumwa, Iowa, have charged a high school student with conspiracy to commit terrorism in what authorities say was a plan to “harm a number of students.”
The Ottumwa Courier reports a 16-year-old girl was arrested onThursday and taken to a juvenile detention center.
Police began investigating after the teen allegedly began trying to recruit other students.
Police Chief Jim Clark wouldn’t say if others were aware of the girl’s plan, but he says there is no further threat.
The Associated Press generally doesn’t identify juveniles accused of a crime.
