(Des Moines) — Where were you when the power went off? Shortly before 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning, more than 2100 customers of MidAmerican Energy were left in the dark, as there was a wide spread power outage that affected most of the city of Le Mars. MidAmerican officials told KLEM news that a substation located near Le Mars had tripped, causing the blackout. Within six minutes, MidAmerican officials say that power was restored to all of the affected area. MidAmerican officials are still investigating as to why the substation shut down.
