Kingsley Boy Rescued From Safe
Some anxious moments for a young Kingsley boy Monday morning. The boy’s sister called 9-1-1 around 11am to report he had locked himself in a safe in their family’s home.
Kingsley fire personnel quickly responded to the residence at 115 Brookview Drive and freed the boy.
Plymouth County Dispatch says the boy was uninjured.
Le Mars Woman Arrested On OWI/Drug Charges
A Le Mars woman was taken into custody early Sunday morning after a Plymouth County deputy witnessed a car being driven erracticly at the junction of K-22 and C-38.
27 year old Morgan Bernard was arrested and charged with OWI 1st, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of prescription drugs. A passenger in the car, 21 year old Karlton Waterman of LeMars was cited and released for open container.
Morgan was taken to the Plymouth County Jail. Her bond was set at $1,000.
Sun and Fun Tuesday
if you are a senior citizen ready for some fun in the sun,then head to the Plymouth County Fairgrounds Tuesday. Angela Drake explains:
They’re “Puttin on the Ritz” for the 25th Annual Sun ‘N Fun Getaway event this year at the Plymouth County Fair Grounds. Tomorrow’s (Tuesday’s) event is put on by the Connections Area Agency on Aging, formerly known as Siouxland Aging Services. Event chair Kris Kuchta says that the day will include everything from ballroom dancing, to an antique car show and many engaging speakers.

Over 300 people are expected for the 25th Annual Sun ‘N Fun Event being held for seniors and their caregivers tomorrow from 9am to 1pm at the Plymouth County Fairgrounds. Pre-registration is not required. Admission is $5 per person which includes the day’s activities and lunch.
Butter Cow Vandalized
An animal welfare group poured red paint over the Iowa State Fair’s butter cow, but the damage was quickly scraped away and the iconic sculpture is back on display.
Iowans for Animal Liberation, which promotes veganism, claimed responsibility in a Sunday news release, saying the paint represents the millions of animals killed annually for food.
The Iowa State Patrol says the attack occurred overnight Saturday after someone broke into the locked refrigerated area of the Agriculture Building where the sculpted cow is displayed. The attackers poured red paint over the sculpture and scrawled, “Freedom for all,” on a display window.
Iowa State Patrol Sgt. Scott Bright says the damage was cleaned up quickly Sunday morning and that the display opened as usual.
Bright called it a “mild case of vandalism.”
