Sioux County Stabbing Update
The Sioux County Sheriff has released more information regarding a stabbing near Rock Valley Tuesday. A warrant for the arrest of 22 year old Alonzo Leanos has been issued.
Leonos is wanted as a material witness in the case.He is a Hispanic male, 6 feet tall and 220 pounds.His last known address is rural Rock Valley.
The stabbing occurred just before 9pm Tuesday about five miles southwest of Rock Valley. A caller on 911 advised Sioux County dispatchers that he was bringing in a stabbing victim by vehicle.
The victim is a 21 year old man from Orange City, who was transferred to McKennon Hospital in Sioux Falls.the victim’s name has not been released.

The Circus Is Coming To Remsen
The Circus is coming to Remsen, next Tuesday, August 20th. there will be two shows, the first at at 5:00 p.m. and then one at 7:30 p.m.

Alton Boy Places In State Fair Lamb Contest
An Alton youth has won a couple of honors at the 4-H Market Lamb Show at the Iowa State Fair.
Dalton Pottebaum of Alton showed the Reserve Grand Champion Performance Lamb. Pottebaum also took the honor for the Division 3 Champion Heavyweight Performance lamb.
Tanner Hild of Webster City won the overall Grand Champion Market Lamb honors.
Iowa Farm Buildings Not Exempt From electrical Inspections
The Iowa Electrical Examining Board won’t exempt farm buildings from mandatory electrical inspections.
The board voted 8-3 on Thursday to reject a proposal that would have generally exempted farm buildings.
The proposal was aimed at resolving issues stemming from a court ruling that the board exceeded its authority by requiring inspections on most electrical installations on farms.
Some critics say the inspections are a power grab by the board and that the inspections overburden farmers. Other farmers and their supporters say poorly installed electrical wiring creates safety hazards.
On Thursday the board set a task force to seek a compromise to present to the Legislature.
Tapeworm Diet a Bad Idea
The medical director for the Iowa Department of Public Health is warning against the tapeworm diet.
In her weekly email to public health workers around Iowa, Dr. Patrica Quinlisk recounted a recent incident:
A physician sought the department’s help for a patient who said she’d swallowed a tapeworm she’d bought over the Internet.
The woman was hoping the parasite would help her lose weight.
Quinlisk says hucksters sold tapeworm eggs in pill form as a weight-loss aid a century ago. She says ingesting them “is extremely risky and can cause a wide range of undesirable side effects, including rare deaths.”
Tapeworms can live for years in the intestines and grow to several feet long. They can be accidentally ingested in undercooked meat.
An anti-worm medication was advised for the woman.
