Plymouth County Accidents Reported
One person was injured following a one vehicle rollover in Plymouth County Saturday morning southeast of Hinton.
The accident happened in the 3100 block of Highway K-49, also known as Mahogany Avenue, south of Highway C-60.
The injured party was transported by helicopter to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.
The accident happened around 8am.

An accident involving a pair of semis delayed traffic Friday morning north of Le Mars at Highway 60 and 150th.
The Le Mars Fire Department responded to the scene and found the two semis had clipped into each other.
Debris and part of one semi’s load were cleared from the highway.No injuries were reported. Both semis had to be towed.
That accident happened around 7:15am.
Sioux City Arson
A Sioux City man is in custody and charged with deliberately setting fire to his residence.
36 year old Shawn Ferrara is charged with 2nd Degree Arson.
Investigators say Ferrara allegedly set fire to the home at 1815 Myrtle Street Thursday night around 8:15PM.
The home formerly belonged to his late grandmother.
Ferrara was booked into the Woodbury County Jail on $10-Thousand dollars bond.
North Sioux city Police Chief Retires
After 20 years on the job, Jody Frye, the police chief in North Sioux City, South Dakota has stepped down from his duties there.
Frye will soon be working security at the Federal courthouse in Sioux City.
Clovis Speaks Out
Sam Clovis of Hinton, one of the Republican candidates for the U.S. Senate, has spoken out against the grant awarded to Iowa’s Planned Parenthood office to educate consumers about their options under ObamaCare.
Clovis says “The distribution of tax dollars to abortion providers like Planned Parenthood is yet another slap in the face of citizens of this nation.”
He says the Affordable Care Act, a tragic mistake supported by Democrats Tom Harkin and championed by Bruce Braley, should be pulled out by the roots and discarded.
Clovis says if abortion is a matter of privacy, then private funds ought to pay for it.
Absentee Ballots Available
Absentee ballots for the upcoming school election on September 10th are now available to vote absentee in the Plymouth County Auditor’s office from 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m.
You may also request an absentee ballot by mail by filling our an absentee ballot request form and returning it to the Auditor’s office.
The last day to mail an absentee ballot is Friday, September 6th.
Forms can be found on the Plymouth County website at www.co.plymouth.ia.us under the Auditor tab and then the Form tab,
Print it off, fill it out and return it to the Auditor’s office.
