Red, White, & Blue Mud Run Scheduled For Saturday

(Le Mars) — This coming Saturday will be the Red, White, and Blue Mud Run which will take place on the west side of Le Mars along the Floyd River.  The event originally was to occur in early summer, but was rescheduled since the area was flooded from the Memorial Day flooding.   Jay King with the Le Mars Police Department, is the mud run’s coordinator.  He says most of the contestants that registered in the summer still plan to participate in Saturday’s event.

In addition to the natural obstacles, the event organizers have also placed several man-made obstacles for the course.  King says some of the man-made obstacles will remain a mystery, but he mentions contestants will find each obstacle different and an unique challenge.

King says volunteers are still needed for the event, and you can contact the Le Mars Police department.  The mud run will begin with the first contestant starting at 9:00 a.m. and King says the race is not timed.  Organizers will have a staggered start, allowing for ten minutes between contestants.  He believes the event will continue through mid-afternoon.  King says the name of the event, Red…White…and Blue Mud Run was chosen not only to show patriotism, but it also identifies the event’s sponsors.
