Students Learn About Impaired Driving

(Le Mars) — Students of the Le Mars Community School District were introduced to a computer driving similator on Thursday.  The similator displays virtual traffic scenerios, including distractions, slower traffic, and unexpected hazzards.   The virtual driving similator is part of the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau.  Part of the experience involves students wearing special goggles to give students the feeling of driving impaired from consuming alcohol and/or drugs.  It is on tour throughout the western portion of the state, targeting high school students, alerting them of the dangers of alcohol and drugs during spring prom and graduation seasons.
