Sioux City Has Power Restored
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) – Power has been restored to almost all Sioux City customers left in the dark for nearly two hours late Friday and early Saturday.
Sioux City television station KTIV reports (https://bit.ly/1oHUYmG ) that MidAmerican Energy blamed a transformer failure for the outage that began at 11:45 p.m. Friday. The utility says power was restored by 1:30 a.m. Saturday to almost all of the more than 6,000 power customers affected.
MidAmerican says there are a few customers still without power.

Vilsack Promotes Rural Values
(Des Moines) — Agriculture Secretary Vilsack also took the time to inform pork producers about the value of rural America, and challenged them to tell the story of agriculture.

The USDA official told the crowd he thanks farmers everyday, and he encourages others to thank farmers as well.
Atlantic Soldier Featured In Movie Documentary
ATLANTIC, Iowa (AP) – A western Iowa man who served in Afghanistan appears in a new documentary featuring his unit.
Nathan Allen, of Atlantic, appears in the film, “The Hornet’s Nest.” The movie features Allen’s unit, the 101st Airborne Division.
The Atlantic News Telegraph reports the movie shows the unit as it experiences hostile fire in Afghanistan in 2011. Allen is wounded trying to help another soldier in his platoon reach safety.
Allen received a Purple Heart for his service, and retired as a sergeant last year. He says the movie helps him remember the incident, and helps others understand what the soldiers experienced.
The movie is playing in Atlantic from June 12th through 19th.
Cedar Rapids Man Charged For Bank Robbery
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) – A 24-year-old Cedar Rapids man faces up to 20 years in federal prison after being charged with one count of bank robbery.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the northern district of Iowa says Jacob Allen Mack was charged Wednesday in a federal indictment.
Prosecutors say that Mack robbed the Hills Bank in downtown Cedar Rapids on May 2.
Mack appeared in federal court on Thursday and is being held without bond. He could not be reached for comment.
His is set to stand trial on Aug. 4.
Field Of Dreams Celebrates 25th Anniversary
DYERSVILLE, Iowa (AP) – Kevin Costner, Dwier Brown and other stars of the baseball blockbuster “Field of Dreams” will be in Iowa this coming Father’s Day weekend to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the movie.
The celebration is being held outside Dyersville on the northeastern Iowa farm where the movie was filmed.
