“Breaking Up is Hard to Do” Continues this Weekend!

(Le Mars) Neil Sedaka fans take notice…The Le Mars Community Theater opens performances of “Breaking Up is Hard to Do” this weekend.  The cast of 6 will be singing 18 Neil Sedaka songs, including “Where the Boys Are”,  “Sweet Sixteen”, “Calendar Girl”, “Love Will Keep Us Together”, and of course, the chart-topping title song.

Set in 1960, Lois and Marge and are two friends from Brooklyn in search of good times and romance.  They find themselves in a Catskills Resort making friends backstage andsinging their way onto the stage.  The two lovely ladies are played by Geana Schneider, a newcomer to the Postal Playhouse Stage, and Onnastassia Behan, who face we’ve seen before here in Le Mars.  Other newcomers include Wayne Blum playing Gabe- the behind the scenes song writer for the big variety show at the resort.  Wayne is a Sioux City and Akron community theater veteran. Wayne’s father, Tim Blum , takes on the role of Harvey, another energetic entertainer at the Resort. Shawn Starr comes back after his run in “A Few Good Men” to play Del Delmonaco, the dreamy, but not too brainy, variety show host.  And veteran Donna Muilenburg plays the funny and boisterous resort owner, Esther.

An jazz type ensemble will accompany the cast in this enjoyable, toe tapper of a performance!

Lois Estell of Orange City is directing “Breaking Up is Hard to Do” which plays at the Le Mars Community Theater’s Postal Playhouse the weekends of September 25th-28th and October 2nd – 5th.
