Plymouth County Exhibits Well Represented At Iowa State Fair

(Le Mars) — The Iowa State Fair begins on Thursday, but 4-H static exhibits will
be heading to Des Moines on Tuesday. Janelle Johnson, program co-coordinator for
the Plymouth County Extension Services says 55 exhibits will be representing
Plymouth County at this year’s Iowa State Fair.

Johnson says since Plymouth County is one of the larger counties within the state
with a large 4-H membership, that does entitle the county to send additional
exhibits than a smaller county.

The Plymouth County Extension official says with the exception of food exhibits,
all other 4-H exhibits will be on display during the entire duration of the Iowa
State Fair.

Johnson says visitors to the Iowa State Fair will find each of the Plymouth County
4-H exhibits inside the 4-H Exhibition Building and they will be on display
according to the department.

In addition to the static exhibits, visitors may want to view the many educational
presentations from the 99 Iowa counties.

Johnson says Plymouth County will also be well represented with various
Communications and Demonstration projects. She says Plymouth County 4-H exhibitors
will feature six educational presentations, four working exhibits, and three
Share-the-Fun acts.

Are 4-H members with exhibits at the Iowa State Fair eligible to exhibit again at
next year’s state fair? Johnson says, yes, with the exception of clothing entries.

As mentioned, the Iowa State Fair begins this Thursday, and continues through
Sunday, August 21st.
