Emergency Rescue Workers Respond To Four Accidents

(Le Mars) — The Le Mars Fire and Rescue Department had a busy day, yesterday, Wednesday, responding to six different calls, four of which were accidents.  Many of the calls came within minutes of having to respond to the first call.  The other three calls involved an oven fire, a heart attack victim, and an electrical outage.

The first call was an accident that happened Wednesday morning at about 11:00 a.m. near Brunsville involving a semi truck pulling a tanker that hit a farm tractor pulling two wagons. One victim was airlifted to a Sioux City hospital by means of the
Mercy Air Care helicopter. Responding to the accident were the Le Mars Ambulance Service, Le Mars Fire and Rescue Department, Plymouth County Secondary Roads Department, and the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office. Specific information
about the accident, including the name of the victim has not yet been released.
The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the investigation.

Within 45 minutes of the first accident, emergency crews were
responding to a second accident that happened at about 11:45 a.m. The second accident from Wednesday morning occurred near the intersection of 140th Street and Highway 75 north of Le Mars. The Le Mars Ambulance Service, Le Mars Fire
and Rescue Department, and the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the accident scene. The accident involved a pickup truck pulling a livestock trailer and a SUV. No word yet if there were any injuries involved with the second accident. The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its
investigation.

The Le Mars Fire and Rescue Department, Le Mars Ambulance, and the Le Mars Police Department responded Wednesday afternoon to an accident involving a child riding his bicycle and was struck by a car.  The accident happened at about 3:45 p.m. near Lally’s Restaurant.  The boy was taken to Floyd Valley Healthcare by private transportation.  No word as to the severity of those injuries.  The Le Mars Police Department is conducting the investigation.

Emergency rescue crews consisting of the Le Mars Fire and Rescue Department, and the Le Mars Ambulance Service responded to a fourth accident Wednesday afternoon shortly before 4:00 p.m. at the intersection of county road
C-38 and K-22 west of Le Mars. Two vehicles, a mini van and a sedan four door car collided at the intersection. According to the Iowa Highway Patrol, who is conducting the investigation, the injuries sustained were minor.

3:34 – Power outage near Floyd Valley Apartments, low hanging powerline.

3:47 – Child riding bicycle struck by car in front of Lally’s

3:57 – Accident reported at C-38 and K-22.
