Le Mars Receives First Snow For The Winter Season

(Le Mars) — Le Mars,  Plymouth County and all of northwest Iowa is experiencing its first winter-like day with its first snowfall. Todd Heitkamp is a meteorologist with the National Weather Services based at Sioux Falls. He doesn’t anticipate much accumulation from this first snow fall.

If you are thinking it is unusual to see such a drastic change of weather patterns going from 70 degree temperatures on Wednesday and snow on Friday, Heitkamp says just think back to last year.

Plymouth County is under a wind advisory and Heitkamp says even though it is our first snow of the season, people will want to be concerned about the wind chill
factor.

As for the week of Thanksgiving, the weather official says we all should enjoy a nice holiday with decent weather conditions.

Heitkamp says we can be assured that the nice warm days we have been experiencing are now in the past.
