Sunday Storms Hit Sioux County

(Orange City) — The past weekend saw some much needed rain, but also some storm damage, especially in Sioux County where downed trees and structural roof damage had occurred as a result of a storm that passed through the area late Sunday afternoon. Nate Huizenga is a deputy with the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office and tells of the damage as a result of the storm.

Huizenga says there were some reports of pea-sized hail in the area of the storm, but most of the damage was the result of strong winds. The Sioux County Sheriff’s deputy says officials have not yet calculated the dollar estimate from the storm damage.

Huizenga says the area did receive a nice rain shower from the storm system.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s deputy says he was not aware of any crop damage as a result of the Sunday storm.
