Tuesday morning fatal crash update

UPDATE – Emergency Rescue Crews Respond To Roll-over Fatal Accident

(Le Mars) — The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the individual killed in the single vehicle roll-over accident Tuesday morning. Saul Medina Gonzaga, age 27, of Belleuvue, Nebraska, was pronounced dead at Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars shortly after arriving there via the Le Mars Ambulance Service.  The investigation is continuing by the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office and the Le Mars Police Department.  Snow and ice were a contributing factor in that fatal accident.

(Le Mars) — Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office has updated some information regarding yesterday’s  (Tuesday) roll-over accident that happened on the northbound lanes of Highway 75 near mile marker 119 between Highway 3 and Fedder’s R-V and Marine. The accident was reported at about 9:05 a.m. Three people were
injured during the rollover accident. Two suffered minor injuries, but the third victim was killed during the accident. Preliminary results of the investigation show that the single vehicle was traveling north on Highway 75, when the driver hit ice and snow and lost control of the vehicle and entered the east ditch. The vehicle rolled several times before coming to rest along
a DOT fence line. One of the passengers was ejected from the vehicle and later died at Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars. The driver, Carlos Gomez and his front seat passenger, Antonio Higveron Lonjinos, both from Omaha, were treated and released from the hospital. Pronounced dead at the hospital
was the back seat passenger, a Hispanic male age 27, from Bellevue, Nebraska.
Authorities are not releasing the name of the dead victim pending the notification of family members. The accident is still under investigation by the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office and the Le Mars Police Department.
Officers were assisted by the Le Mars Ambulance Service, Le Mars Fire and Rescue Department, Plymouth County Medical Examiner, Dr. Sheila Holcomb, and the Iowa D-O-T.

(Le Mars) — Emergency rescue units responded to a one-vehicle roll-over accident that happened this morning at about 9:05 a.m. The accident happened on the northbound lane of Highway 75 at mile marker 119, just north of Highway 3. Officials estimate the vehicle rolled several yards from the
highway. Three people were in the vehicle when it had rolled. the preliminary investigation shows the the vehicle hit ice and snow and lost control, entering the east ditch, rolling several times before coming to rest along a DOT fenceline.  Injured victims were transported to Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars by the Le Mars Ambulance Services.

One of the passengers was ejected from the vehicle and later died at Floyd Valley healthcare.  The victims name is being withheld until relatives have been notified.  The other two passengers were treated and released with minor injuries

Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the scene of the accident.
