(Le Mars)  Le Mars Community Schools have announced the annual Decades of Excellence Crystal Bell award.  Mr. Randy Ewing was nominated by paretn Christy McInnis and her son Jack.  Mr. Ewing has served the District as its high school vocal music teacher for the past 15 years.  Ewing resides in Le Mars with his wife, Nancy, who is the middle school vocal music teacher.  The Ewings have two children, Katelyn and her husband, Layton Elscott who live in Hampton, Iowa.  Katelyn is the 9-12 vocal music teacher for Hampton-Dumont School District.  Karter is a sales manager for Menards in Ames, Iowa.  The Decades of Excellence Crystal Bell award is presented annually to honor outstanding teachers who have dedicated their careers to the education of our students.  The award is co-sponsored by the LCSD Foundation and the LCS Alumni Association.

THE MYSTERY OF WHO RAN INTO AND DAMAGED A LIGHT POLE AT THE CENEX CO-OP GAS AND OIL THE EVENING OF JANUARY 30TH IN BOYDEN HAS BEEN SOLVED.  THE SIOUX COUNTY SHERIFF SAYS 21-YEAR-OLD LOGAN GILLESPIE OF GRANVILLE HAS BEEN CITED FOR LEAVING THE SCENE OF A PROPERTY DAMAGE ACCIDENT.  DEPUTIES RECEIVED A TIP THURSDAY THAT IT WAS GILLESPIE DRIVING THE SILVERADO THAT STRUCK THE LIGHT POLE AND TICKETED HIM.  HIS PICKUP SUSTAINED $3500 IN DAMAGE IN THE HIT AND RUN ACCIDENT.  REPAIR COSTS TO THE LIGHT POLE WERE $4800.

A BENCH TRIAL DATE HAS BEEN SET IN THE FIRST DEGREE MURDER CASE OF PAUL BELK IN WOODBURY COUNTY DISTRICT COURT IN SIOUX CITY

THE 31-YEAR-OLD BEAUFORT, SOUTH CAROLINA MAN IS CHARGED IN THE FATAL STABBING LAST APRIL 14TH OF HIS MOTHER 55-YEAR-OLD LISA BELK, AT HER MORNINGSIDE APARTMENT.

HE WILL STAND TRIAL APRIL 20TH WITH JUDGE JEFFREY NEARY PRESIDING.

BELK IS ALSO CHARGED WITH WILLFUL INJURY FOR ALLEGEDLY STABBING HIS 28-YEAR-OLD SISTER SUSAN BELK IN THE SHOULDER DURING THE FAMILY ARGUMENT.
PAUL BELK IS ALSO CHARGED WITH POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA AND REMAINS HELD IN THE WOODBURY COUNTY JAIL ON $500,000 BOND.
