Brandon Vander Sluis Signs to Play Football at University of South Dakota

Le Mars football offensive lineman Brandon Vander Sluis officially took the next step toward becoming a college football player, Tuesday. Vander Sluis signed his letter of intent to the University of South Dakota in front of friends, family, and coaches.

The day for Vander Sluis capped off a process that has gone all the way back to his junior year when the Bulldog lineman was being looked at by many different programs. No program got as far into the process with Vander Sluis as the Coyotes did.

Vander Sluis says that, on those visits to campus, Vermillion felt like the right place for him. He says that proximity and familiarity played a big role in his decision to attend South Dakota.

Vander Sluis plans to study education at South Dakota. When you talk to his high school head coach Ken Vigdal, that makes a lot of sense. Vigdal says that the biggest thing that stands out about Vander Sluis is his leadership of the team both on and off the field.

Vigdal also points out the parts of Vander Sluis’s game that make him a great Division 1 offensive lineman.

Vander Sluis verbally committed to the Coyotes on Twitter all the way back on July 31st. This gave Vander Sluis the peace of mind knowing he had a plan and could just focus on his senior football season with the Bulldogs.

Vander Sluis says that the Bulldog football program prepared him not just for play on the gridiron, but it also prepared him on how to be a great person.

Coach Vigdal says that a player like Vander Sluis and his commitment to the next level now raises the standards at Le Mars.

Vander Sluis is one of 17 athletes that have signed to join the Coyotes in the fall of 2022. Vander Sluis graduates the Le Mars football program as a two-time all-district lineman, lineman of the year in the district in 2021, and an all-state lineman in 2021.
