Matt And Angie Schnepf Honored As All-American Pork Producers

(Des Moines) — A Plymouth County pork producing couple was honored Wednesday evening during the Iowa Pork Congress Master Pork Producers Banquet.  The honor of All-American Pork Producer was bestowed upon Matt and Angie Schnepf.  Only one pork producer from across the state of Iowa is given the honor each year.  A fact that Matt didn’t realize when he was informed of the honor.

The Schnepfs were presented the Master Pork Producer honor back in 2013, a prerequisite for being recognized as an All American Pork Producer. One reason for Matt and Angie Schnepf’s award is their work as the Membership chairman for the Plymouth County Pork Producers, and their work at helping create the popular “Adopt A Pig” program, as we hear during the program’s narrative.

Raising hogs is often times a family affair, and Angie tells of how she and their three sons help with the 10,000 head pig operation.

Matt and Angie agree perhaps the best way to promote pork is to make certain consumers are given a great tasting product.

A few years ago, Plymouth County pork producers Ben and Janelle Johnson were also given the honor of being named “All-American Pork Producer.”  The Iowa Pork Producers Association also honored Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds with their “Honorary Master Pork Producer” award.

Governor Reynolds spoke briefly about the challenges the Iowa pork industry faced during the last year with COVID slowing down the marketing food chain.
