“God of Carnage” Opens Friday on the Postal Playhouse Stage

(LE MARS)– The first show of the 2022 season at Le Mars Community Theater is sure to make you laugh, but you may also be a little frustrated and stunned.  Why? The show “God of Carnage” is a 90 minute conversation between two sets of parents whose sons have gotten into a playground brawl.  Written by French playwright Yasmina Reza, and translated by Christopher Hampton, “Carnage” makes the audience feel like they’re being dropped into a real-life conversation with no filters.
Le Mars resident Tracie Ritz is one of the four cast members bringing the story to life and says audiences will be able to relate to what the characters are experiencing on stage.

Ritz says the show isn’t all serious, however.   There are opportunities for humor, just like there is in real life.

Tracie is joined on-stage by Joe Ouradnik, Megan Mauritz and Greg McInnis. The four person cast has the opportunity to play off of each other in unique ways, as the couples square off against each other, and then switch sides and start ganging up on each others spouses.

Ritz says the Le Mars Community Theatre wants to public to know this is an adult-themed show.

“God of Carnage” opens Friday, February 4th and runs through the 6th, picking up again February 10th-13th.  And yes, the show is back on the Postal Playhouse stage. After personally performing twice in the Plymouth County Museum space, Tracie Ritz says she’s honored to be on LCT’s home stage for the first time.

The Le Mars Community Theater production of “God of Carnage” is being directed by Angela Riedeman and produced by Josh Vore.
