Kingsley-Pierson’s Nicole Goodwin 2022 Basketball Recipient of IGHSAU Golden Plaque of Distinction

Kingsley-Pierson’s Nicole Goodwin is the 2022 basketball recipient of the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union’s Golden Plaque of Distinction Award. Goodwin will be honored at halftime of the Class 3A State Championship Friday, March 4.

The IGHSAU’s Golden Plaque of Distinction honors the Iowa coach who has demonstrated a suc­cessful career while making notable contributions toward school, community and the coaching profes­sion.Goodwin is in her 19th year as the head girls basketball coach at Kingsley-Pierson.

She has rebuilt the program and won seven Western Valley Conference titles, and the conference tournament four times. Goodwin’s teams  have played in the 1A regional finals eight times and have been state qualifiers three times.

Goodwin has been the IGCA Coach of the Year six times and the IBCA Coach of the Year three times. She was awarded the NFHS State Coach of the Year and the NFHS Sectional Coach of the Year in 2019-20.  She has also served on the IGHSAU Basketball Advisory Committee.

Coach Goodwin is in her 20th year teaching K-8th Physical Education at Kingsley-Pierson. She also serves as the Athletic Director and School to Work Coordinator.  She has been a Certified Athletic Trainer for 26 years. Nicole and her husband, Todd have four children, Madison, McKenzie, Beau and Blakely.
