Le Mars Boys Basketball Drops Close Game with South Dakota’s Top Team

The Le Mars boys basketball team faced a tough challenge in their first game back from break. The Bulldogs lost a tough battle at home with the #1 team in South Dakota in Dakota Valley by a final of 60-55.

The Bulldogs led by two points at the end of the first quarter and led by 10 points with around a minute to go in the half. Head Coach Dave Irwin says the guys were executing their gameplan at a high level.

Unfortunately, that lead did not last as long as the Dogs would have liked. Dakota Valley ended the half with an 11-0 run to take a one-point lead into the locker room. Coach Irwin says it boiled down to some of the same mistakes the team has made all season.

Those mistakes definitely overshadowed the excellent effort the Bulldogs made in hanging with the defending South Dakota Class A champions. Coach Irwin says his team made big steps in the loss and now need to take those big steps into their matchup with Sioux City West.

The Bulldogs will take a 2-6 record into their contest with West. The Panthers remain perfect at 5-0 to start the season.
