National Day of Prayer

A beautiful day showcased the National Day of Prayer event held at the Olson Cultural Event Center in Le Mars Thursday noon. Mike Wells moderated the event which included a free lunch from Habitue Coffeehouse and Bakery.  Collin Hop and Amanda Brophy opened the event with musical selections.   Various community speakers offered prayers for family, church, education, business, media, military, and government.  John Slegers of KLEM news prayed for the media.

National Day of Prayer was first  signed into law by President Truman, and every president since has signed a proclamation that encourages Americans to pray on and celebrate this day. The national holiday has always been the first Thursday of May every year since it was founded in 1952.
