Le Mars Fire Rescue Tuesday marked the addition of a new member, and promotion of another. Fire Chief Dave Shipper says this is an exciting time for the force, and for the city.

Schipper sees the department members as family, as most members have a family history in emergency response
A new department member, Briley Pollema of Le Mars, was officially sworn in by Mayor Rob Bixenman Tuesday.
There was also a promotion Tuesday, as Jared Kunkel was promoted to battalain chief, and sworn in to that position.
Jared is well-qualified for his new rank.
Kunkel came to Le Mars Fire Rescue two years ago from the Waverly Fire Department.
