Le Mars Girls Cross Country, Trace Obbink Earn MRAC Runner-Up Finishes

The Missouri River Activities Conference held their cross country meet in Brunsville on Wednesday evening, and the Le Mars cross country team put together some good finishes.

On the girls side, Le Mars finished second as a team with three runners taking home all-conference honors placing in the top-15. Le Mars head coach Kyle Borchers says the girls are starting to peak at the right time.

The meet was highlighted by Trace Obbink’s strong runner-up finish in the individual boys standings. Obbink says he had to deal with wind during the race but persevered to finish well.

Coach Borchers says Obbink is a smart runner and shows that during every meet.

Obbink says that, as the season ends, he is not as worried about good times on the score sheet. He is going for placement so he can continue to qualify for more events.

The Bulldogs will compete in Spencer for their state qualifying meet next week. Coach Borchers says the team is well-prepared, and it is time for that hard work to pay off.

Le Mars will run their state qualifying meet on Wednesday, October 18.
