The Kingsley-Pierson/River Valley girls golf team finished in a close second in their third Western Valley Conference meet of the season in Moville on Monday night. The Panthers scored a 201 finishing slightly behind MVAOCOU’s 199.
The second-place finish follows a pair of wins in their first conference meets of the year. K-P/RV head coach Val Sitzmann says her team has worked on their short game, and that has led to success this season.
Helping out the cause has been Jordyn Sitzmann who has medaled in nearly every event she has competed in. She medaled once again with a 45 on Monday night, and coach Sitzmann says her confidence has been evident in the first part of the season.
The Panthers have also been helped by being able to go much deeper into their roster to get to low scorers to count for their standings. Coach Sitzmann says she does not always know who will be those golfers, but she knows they will have some great scores.
The Panthers’ two-stroke loss was made more difficult after the fact when Coach Sitzmann heard about the struggles finding the bottom of the cup. She says they will be working on finishing holes better for future meets.
The Panthers are next in action at home on Friday night for a dual with Alta-Aurelia.
