K-P/RV’s Jordyn Sitzmann medals in back-to-back years at Western Valley Conference Tournament

The Western Valley Conference tournament has been kind to Kingsley-Pierson/River Valley junior Jordyn Sitzmann. She finished one stroke off first place as a freshman, won medalist honors last year as a sophomore, and picked up medalist honors again on Monday with an 85.

Sitzmann had to contend with the wind to get to her tournament-low total. She says the wind picked up later, and it made its presence felt on the green.

The last two conference tournaments, Sitzmann’s totals were well into the 90s leaving a lot to be desired on the scoreboard. Sitzmann did not leave much out there this time cracking through the 90-barrier and getting into the mid-80s. She says her confidence has been building all season and leading to a performance like this.

The best part about competing as a Panther for Sitzmann is she does not feel like she has to do it all. Two Panthers finished in the top-five on the individual leaderboard, and Sitzmann says everybody has a job, and they do that job well.

Despite all the success that Sitzmann and the Panthers have had the last couple of seasons, they still have not made the state meet as a team or with Sitzmann as an individual. To get that done, Sitzmann says it is going to take better execution on the green to keep scores down.

The Panthers open tournament play on Friday at Aurelia in the regional opening round.
