The Le Mars Community boys wrestling team picked up a pair of home MRAC dual wins on senior night on Thursday night. The Bulldogs beat Council Bluffs TJ 56-24 and Sioux City West 71-11.
The Bulldogs started off the night with a convincing win over the Yellow Jackets after winning their first six matches and five of them with a pin to take a 35-0 lead. Head coach Shane Hessenius says the guys were fired up to get going.
Against West, the dynamic was a little different. The Wolverines had to forfeit many weights, but there was some drama to the matchup too. West’s team was coached by Shane’s brother John, and that led to an extra friendly competition. Coach Hessenius says he challenged the guys and got a leg up on the sibling rivalry.
Many different guys contributed to the wins in many different ways. Coach Hessenius says a lot of his wrestlers had great nights.
The Bulldogs will now turn their focus to their home invitational on Saturday. A lot of great teams will wrestle in the Ice Cream Capital, and Coach Hessenius says he wants his guys to compete hard against those great teams.
The action starts at 10:00 on Saturday morning at the Le Mars Community competition gym.
