Hayden Sitzmann finishes on podium for Le Mars boys wrestling at home invite

The Le Mars Community boys wrestling team hosted all kinds of teams for their annual home invite. The Bulldogs finished eighth out of 20 teams with 71.5 team points.

The Bulldogs got most of their wrestlers into the quarterfinal round of their weight classes, but that is where things got tricky for the Bulldogs. Head coach Shane Hessenius says despite that bump in the road, he was happy with how the guys competed.

Hayden Sitzmann was the top finisher for the Bulldogs with a third-place finish at 144 pounds. Coach Hessenius says he can be an aggressive wrestler, and he showed that in his third-place match.

We are now less than a month out from the district meet, and the Bulldogs will have some work to do if they want a number of wrestlers to go to state. Whatever needs working on, Coach Hessenius is not worried because his guys have been very coachable this season.

Le Mars will host a double dual tomorrow against MOC-Floyd Valley and Spencer.
