The Le Mars Community girls soccer team suffered a close one-goal loss to West Sioux on Friday night by the score of 3-2.
Despite a 1-10 record, the Bulldogs are still upbeat and positive about the status of their team. That positivity stems from the progress the team has made recently in going from many mercy rule losses to battling in close matches. Head coach Tre Thomas the growth is good, but there is some frustration that the results have not gone their way yet.
The Bulldogs tallied the only score of the first half on a Mya Skov goal midway through the first half. That gave the Bulldogs some energy heading into the half time break, and Coach Thomas could tell that his team had some new confidence at that point.
Unfortunately, West Sioux came out and scored two quick goals to take the lead in the second half. Le Mars tied it with an Abigale Gardner goal, but West Sioux scored the go-ahead goal with roughly 20 minutes left to pick up the win. Coach Thomas says the Bulldogs are close to where they want to be and have a few opportunities to show that with four more regular season games.
The Bulldogs are next in action on Tuesday night on the road at Sioux City West.
