Le Mars volleyball falls in four sets at home to Sioux City East

The Le Mars Community volleyball team dropped an MRAC matchup with Sioux City East in four sets on Tuesday in Le Mars.

The Bulldogs got down 2-0 after failing to get a good start in both the first and the second sets. Head coach Jess Wolles says things went wrong in the serving game and turned everything else the wrong way.

Le Mars did get the chance to respond and did so with a win in the third set to keep the match going. It was the program’s first match win over East since 2019 which proved to be a step in the right direction. Coach Wolles says getting the defense in tune straightened everything else out.

Once the defense was executing, the offensive production turned a positive corner as well. Coach Wolles says she was happy with the balance of offense in the third set.

With the loss, Le Mars drops to 6-18 overall and 2-5 in the MRAC. Le Mars has a tough road ahead with their remaining regular season dates. The Bulldogs will go to Hull on Saturday for a difficult tournament, play Bishop Heelan on Tuesday, and compete in Heelan’s tournament on Saturday. Coach Wolles says her team has to play with more confidence going forward.

Le Mars’ competition in Hull on Saturday begins at 9:00 AM. The Bulldogs are guaranteed to play Sergeant Bluff-Luton, Hinton, and Boyden-Hull in pool play.
