Scooper Hero To Be Chosen
Does your child have a heart as big as a double-scoop sundae and the spirit of a true Scooper Hero? Beth Meyer of the Wells Visitor Center and Ice Cream Parlor says this year the Ice Cream Days Festival in Le Mars will choose a young person who is ready to sprinkle smiles, dish out kindness, and help serve up a little magic during the sweetest days of the year.
She says the Scooper Hero will help kick-off Ice Cream Days at the Wednesday, June 18th Community Coffee at the Ice Cream Parlor.
The deadline to nominate a child to be the Scooper Hero is this Monday, June 9th. The winner will be chosen at random from all nominations.
Museum Week
The Plymouth County Historical Museum is hosting several events next week as part of Iowa Museum Week. Jennifer Scholten says the first event is this Sunday, as the museum will launch the exhibit “Nepal– Up Close & Personal,” featuring guest speaker Dr. Mona Bomgaars. The Museum Administrator says the project to bring this collection to the museum was started by the late Judy Bowman many years ago.
Dr. Bomgaars will speak at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Museum. Scholten told KLEM about some of the items on display that include a collection of antiques and finds from when Bomgaars was doing her missionary work in Nepal.
The Museum will also host a “Chamber After Hours” on Thursday, June 12th starting at 5 pm. The public is invited to this reception and conversation with Dr. Bomgaars.
The events are all complimentary and will take place on the fourth floor of the Plymouth County Historical Museum.
