Le Mars baseball struggles in doubleheaders losses at Council Bluffs AL

The Le Mars Community baseball team had a tough night in Council Bluffs on Tuesday losing both games to the Lynx by scores of 5-1 in the first game and 10-0 in the second game in six innings.

The Bulldogs got the day started well with a run in the top of the first inning of the first game of the night. That would be all the offense they could muster against the Lynx for the rest of the night. Le Mars head coach Trent Eckstaine says the offensive struggles are compounded by a rough go of things on the mound.

While both games ended in losses, not all was lost for the Bulldogs who were able to make some great contact most of the night. Le Mars totaled 13 hits which gave them some chances to add to the lead. Coach Eckstaine says the contact is getting better, and he hopes it will become more consistent as the season goes along.

The Bulldogs fall to 1-11 overall and 1-10 in the MRAC with the loss. With tougher matchups in store, the Bulldogs are going to need to put things together to get back in the win column. Coach Eckstaine says his team has the pieces for it, they just need to execute it better.

Le Mars will host No. 5 Bishop Heelan on Thursday night at 5:30 PM. KLEM will broadcast both games of the doubleheader.
