The No. 12 Hinton softball team split their matchups at the Le Mars Tournament on Friday. The Blackhawks lost to Le Mars 4-1 and beat Western Christian 8-1.
Both teams were in higher classes than the Blackhawks which proved to be a challenge for them leading up to the tournament. Hinton head coach Jennifer Jacobs-List says that is why her team comes to this tournament.
After losing the first game, the Blackhawks had to show their toughness and did so with the victory over Western Christian. Coach Jacobs-List says that toughness was a great thing to see.
The day was finished with a home run off the bat of eighth-grader Chanley Boeve for the first hit of her career. Coach Jacobs-List says she is one of a handful of young athletes that have stepped up for the Blackhawks this season.
Hinton gets back to work this week starting tonight with a matchup at home against South O’Brien.
