Le Mars cross country hosts MRAC Championship in Brunsville

The Le Mars Community cross country teams competed at the Missouri River Activities Conference meet hosted in Brunsville on Thursday night.

On the girls side, Le Mars placed fifth out of the eight teams in the conference. The league is loaded with great runners and great teams meaning a fifth-place finish is still a strong showing. Le Mars head coach Kyle Borchers says the girls emphasized finishing well together, and they did that.

Karis Hulinsky earned all-conference while Aleigha Bohlken was not far behind. Le Mars also placed two runners in the top half of the field with Adeline Nell and Brooklyn DeRocher finding their way in there. Coach Borchers says both of them have made great strides lately.

On the boys side, Le Mars did not score as a team due to not having the necessary five varsity runners. They still came away with a great day with Jony Sanchez earning all-conference honors placing 15th overall. Coach Borchers says the guys have had to fight hard this season, and they have done a great job.

Next up is the state qualifying meet on Wednesday when the Bulldogs go to Spencer. Coach Borchers says strong performances at the MRAC meet will give the teams confidence going into another loaded meet in Spencer.

The state qualifying meet gets started at 4:00 PM on Wednesday next week.
