Le Mars boys basketball unable to hold off Bishop Heelan comeback effort

The Le Mars Community boys basketball team lost a nail-biting home MRAC matchup to Bishop Heelan on Friday night by the score of 57-54.

Le Mars had the upper hand the entirety of the first quarter. The Bulldogs were up on the Crusaders by a score of 21-4 getting things done on both ends of the ball. Head coach Cody Dyhrkopp says the four points his team allowed in that quarter really impressed him.

That 17-point lead would not be enough as Bishop Heelan continued to whittle it down all the way to a lead in the late stages. Coach Dyhrkopp says he cannot fault the team’s effort, but the execution down the stretch left a bit to be desired.

The Bulldogs fall to 2-2 on the season with a 1-2 conference record. Coach Dyhrkopp says the way to get out of a rut like this is to take things one game at a time.

The Bulldogs matchup with Council Bluffs AL on Tuesday at home and Sioux City North on the road on Friday. Both games can be heard on KLEM Radio.
