Le Mars girls basketball falls to second-ranked Bishop Heelan at home

The Le Mars Community girls basketball team stumbled against second-ranked Bishop Heelan on Friday by a score of 61-18.

The Bulldogs were the ones in control of the game through the first few minutes getting out to a 6-2 lead to open the game. Head coach Sidney Ruden says she loved the intensity her team was playing with to start the game.

Unfortunately, that lead was short-lived as the Crusaders started pulling away and kept the Bulldogs scoreless while putting 34-straight points. Coach Ruden says Heelan’s zone defense gave her team fits throughout most of the game.

The Bulldogs fell to 1-4 on the season and 0-3 in the MRAC with the loss. The tough pre-holiday schedule does not get any easier in the coming days. Coach Ruden says she is happy with the progress made so far, and she hopes to see it continue into this upcoming week.

The Bulldogs host Council Bluffs AL on Tuesday and play at Sioux City North on Friday. Both games can be heard on KLEM Radio.
