The Hinton girls wrestling team finished second at the Le Mars Girls Invitational on Friday night.
The Blackhawks had two individual champions and another finish in the finals signifying a good day overall. However, head coach Joel Bertrand still did not feel the Blackhawks wrestled at their best.
The two championships came from Joslyn Swanson at 105 pounds and Allison Hoefling at 115 pounds. Coach Bertrand says he has come to expect great performances from those two to lead his team.
That improvement that Hinton desires has been gradually building as the season has progressed. Coach Bertrand says everyone on the team has been receptive to the coaching and is hungry to get better.
As the season comes to a close, the matches get more intense with regionals coming up in less than two weeks. Coach Bertrand says his girls will be tested at regionals against some competition they have not seen throughout the regular season.
Hinton has another tournament set for Saturday in Sergeant Bluff. Their regional competition takes place on Friday, January 30 in Glenwood.
