Authorities are investigating the cause of a fatal house fire that occurred on Thursday evening in Alton.
Emergency responders were dispatched to a residential structure fire that was called in on Thursday evening. One person was inside of the home at the time of the fire, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Fire crews were able to bring the fire under control, and emergency personnel remained at the scene through early Friday morning to assist with the investigation.
The Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office has been requested to investigate the cause of the fire, alongside the Orange City Police Department. Further details will be provided as they become available; KLEM will update this story when that happens.
