The Optimist Club of Le Mars has announced they’ve donated $1,500 to the Le Mars Backpack Program. The Backpack Program provides basic necessities, such as food or supplies, to students and families in need. Members of the club spent Monday packing bags and presenting a check to Brenda Nohava of the program.
Chartered in 1985, the club says their vision is “to bring out the best in youth, our communities, and ourselves.” The group has given back to the community recently, donating to both Le Mars Community and Gehlen Catholic’s 4th-6th grade student field trips during the 2025-26 school year, donating to the Le Mars Public Library children’s program, and providing fun events for students such as movies, bowling, pool parties, roller skating, and ice skating.
