Le Mars Community Theatre announces reopening date
After nearly ten months of restoration following an unexpected ceiling collapse, the Le Mars Community Theatre has announced they will reopen their doors during a grand reopening on Friday, May 1st.
The theatre has been closed since a ceiling collapse on the Fourth of July in 2025, starting an extensive ten-month long restoration of the building. According to a press release from the theatre, a fully rebuilt ceiling now crowns the space, and the theatre has taken the opportunity to install an entirely new professional-grade lighting system, meaning that “audiences can expect a richer, more immersive experience with every show in the seasons to come.”
In the release, theatre president Danna Schuster thanked the community for their support throughout the restoration process, and stated that “the future is bright” at the Community Theatre.
The reopening will kick off the theatre’s 2026 season, starting with an opening night performance of “Blithe Spirit” by Noël Coward, a “wickedly funny comedy following a novelist haunted — quite literally — by the ghost of his first wife.” The season will wrap up with performances of “My Fair Lady” in August and “Jekyll & Hyde” in November.
Tickets for May 1st’s reopening, and for performances of “Blithe Spirit”, will be available for purchase for $20 each starting Monday, April 13th at lemarslive.org, or at the theatre’s box office.
