The Le Mars Community softball team dropped a pair of Missouri River Activities Conference matchups at Sioux City North on Tuesday by scores of 11-1 and 12-2 with both finishing in four innings.
In spite of the lopsided scores, Le Mars showed some promise on the offensive side of the ball. The Bulldogs were able to consistently put baserunners on even if they were not able to score them. Head coach Brooke Berkenpas says she was happy with how the girls performed at the plate.
The offensive showing was even more pleasing for Coach Berkenpas considering North’s pitcher, Joslyn Vogt, was leading the MRAC in strikeouts. Coach Berkenpas says she emphasized that the Bulldogs were only going to get a couple of good pitches to hit throughout the game.
On the other side of the ball, the Bulldogs had a tough time recording outs against a good North offense. Coach Berkenpas says the Stars know what they are looking for at the plate and how to hit it.
With the losses, the Bulldogs fall to 5-18 overall and 2-16 in the MRAC this season. Coach Berkenpas says the little things still have to be ironed out if her team wants to have a strong run the rest of the season.
Le Mars hosts Sioux City West for their next matchup on Thursday at 5:30 PM.
