Country Store returns to Pioneer Village at the Plymouth County Fair
The Plymouth County Historical Museum has announced that their Country Store will once again open its doors in the Pioneer Village during the Plymouth County Fair, running July 29th through August 2nd.
Fairgoers are invited to stop by and shop for a great cause, with every purchase directly supporting the Museum’s mission to preserve and share Plymouth County’s rich history. This year’s Country Store will feature “fan-favorite” Lotus Energy Drinks, flavored lemonades, homemade goodies such as cookies, breads, bars, and pies, fresh produce, and old-fashioned candies.
Museum representative Wanda Wichers stated in a press release that the Country Store is a “fair tradition,” and that the store “is a wonderful way for visitors to enjoy delicious, homemade treats and fresh produce while helping support the good work of the Museum.” The Museum encourages fairgoers to make the Country Store at the Pioneer Village a stop on their itinerary during the Plymouth County Fair, running from July 29th through August 2nd.

City of Le Mars issues public notice on tree trimming
The City of Le Mars has issued a public notice on tree trimming within street rights-of-way.
Trees located within a street right-of-way, or privately owned trees with branches that extend over a public right-of-way, must be trimmed so that the lowest branches are at least 10 feet above a public sidewalk (or above the street parking area where no sidewalk exists) and at least 15 feet above the traveled portion of any street or alley. No permit is required to perform the trimming.
The Street Department will be inspecting trees throughout the community to identify properties with trees that require trimming to meet requirements. The city is requesting that property owners conduct a visual inspection of their property to determine whether any tree branches extend over a street, sidewalk, alley, or other public right-of-way and need to be trimmed.
If you have any questions about the ordinance, contact Luke Bernhardt at 712-548-4972 or visit lemarsiowa.com.

Beware! New scam targets Iowa utility customers
Iowa’s largest utility is warning its customers to be wary if they’re using a search engine to find the company’s 800-number for customer service. MidAmerican Energy spokesman Dan Winters says scammers are using paid search engine ads to manipulate search results and steer people to fake phone numbers — with crooks waiting to take your call.
To pay a utility bill online, customers should go through the MidAmerican website, and Winters says, if they’re hunting for the address or phone number using a search engine, to review the results carefully before clicking.
The bogus numbers are changing frequently and were you to call one, the person who answers will be posing as a MidAmerican staffer.
If you think you’re being scammed or threatened, just hang up. He says MidAmerican never demands immediate payment through gift cards, cryptocurrency or other unconventional payment methods.
