(Le Mars) — October 4th is recognized as “National Join a Cop for Coffee Day,” and the Le Mars Police Department will host a morning coffee at Bellissimo Coffee Works at 410 4th Street southwest. Le Mars Police Chief Kevin Vande Vegte says people will have the opportunity to visit with some Le Mars Police officers between 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Vande Vegte explains the purpose for event.
The Le Mars Police Chief says other communities within northwest Iowa have implemented a similar successful programs.
Vande Vegte says he hopes for a good response to the coffee with a cop program, and it may be expanded to be held on a quarterly basis.
Again, the “Join a Cop for Coffee” will be held Wednesday morning at Bellissimo’s in Le Mars between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m.
