Preparations Are Being Made For Lighted Christmas Parade

(Le Mars) — This weekend may be considered as the kick-off to Le Mars Christmas festivities.  Several events, including the annual Le Mars Lighted Christmas Parade, as well as the Pioneer Village Christmas Wonderland, and the Le Mars Arts Center’s Cocoa and Carols are scheduled for Saturday evening.  This year will mark the 21st year for the annual Christmas parade, and parade coordinator, Joel Johnson believes this year will be bigger and better.

The parade route will begin at the 8th Street Blvd. and will continue north on Central Avenue to 2nd Street North.  The weekend weather forecast is calling for warmer than normal temperatures, and Johnson is hopeful the nice weather will
draw even more people to Le Mars for the annual Christmas parade.

Johnson offers a brief explanation as to what viewers can expect to see during this year’s parade.

Johnson says the Le Mars Christmas Lighted parade is a popular attraction that brings float entries and visitors from neighboring communities.

Since the parade is at night, and it is dark, the parade coordinator says this year, the parade organizers have implemented new rules with the distribution of candy.  Johnson says they want to stress additional safety measures to ensure
everyone can enjoy the parade, and remain safe.

Parade entries need to begin lining up for the parade at 5:00 p.m. Saturday at the 8th Street Blvd.

As for the Pioneer Christmas Wonderland, more than 50 decorated Christmas trees will be featured inside the Century Hall at the Plymouth County Fairgrounds.  Horse drawn wagon rides will be available, as well as plenty of food and refreshments.
