Friends Help With Airplane Crash Victim’s Family Harvest

Several semi trucks pulling grain trailers were lined up waiting for corn during the Kellen Harvest Bee.

(Le Mars) — Friends and neighbors are coming to the aid and assisting with the harvest for a family of one of the victims killed from the weekend plane crash. Four people lost their lives in that weekend airplane crash at Guthrie County. One of them was 36 year old Patrick Kellen. Del Kellen farms in Plymouth County, and is the father of Patrick Kellen. A harvesting bee was organized for today. Marty Pippett is one of the organizers of the harvest bee, and explains how many farmers are helping with today’s
harvest.

Pippett says many farmers came forward and wanted to help in any way they could.

The farmers all converged on a cornfield in the southeast area of Plymouth County near 280th Street and Polk Avenue helping the Kellen family harvest the remaining 600 acres of corn left in the fields. Pippett says the harvesting bee is making great progress with the Kellen harvest.

Pippett says they hope to finish the harvest before the wake service scheduled for Thursday and the funeral which is scheduled for Friday.
